    ROB’s Angry Apple

    ROB’S ANGRY APPLE – THE BRAVEST CHIPS OF ALL TIME

    BACKGROUND

    Paprika. Sour cream. Salt. Germans’ favorite chips are anything but bold. Yet tastes are different, which is why we should celebrate this diversity on the potato chips shelves as well! Following this credo, CrispyRob created ROB’s “Angry Apple” and revolutionized the German chips game with a sweet and sour apple flavor. The only question that remained was: How can we visually convey the most innovative taste in the history of potato chips in a digital campaign for Kaufland?

    IMPLEMENTATION

    As a symbol for the main components: We created three individual characters and united them in a unique Halloween house, combining their 3 dream ingredients: crispy potatoes, sweet apple rings and sour lemon.

    As the Creator, CrispyRob plays the role of a mad professor who settles the eternal dispute of his three monsters once and for all with a new snack creation. Each of the monsters stand for a chip essence: Dr. Acula (Dima) swears by the sour power of lemon, the mute mummy (Falco) loves potatoes more than anything and the bright green monster Smilystein (Smiley) has nothing but apple rings in mind. The fine tuning of these ingredients give birth to ROB’s “Angry Apple” and combine the diverse tastes of the monsters in just one potato chip.

    DEPARTD told this cross-channel scary story on the YouTube channels of Kaufland and CrispyRob. For the extra buzz, we produced a making-off special with a wide-reaching influencer cast. With over 500,000 impressions on our clip and countless tastings from users, a real hype  was created around the boldest chips ever. And if the ROB’s weren’t eaten down to the last packet, they’re still spooky today.
